Trombone, Keyboards & Vocals : Benjie Messer

Benjie Messer is a busy, Boston-based, freelance trombonist. When not doubling on keyboards and background vocals with K2, he plays regularly with the Hot Tamale Brass Band (doubling on sousaphone), the Jazz Educators Orchestra and the Metro-Boston Trombone Quartet.

As the co-founder of funk band Inner Orchestra, Benjie has shared stages with George Clinton, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Soulive, and trombonist Steve Turre. He holds a Masters in Music Education from UMass-Amherst and a certificate in music education from the Kodály Music Institute at New England Conservatory. Benjie has also studied trombone with John Faieta and David Sporny.

When not gigging, Benjie directs the music program at The Learning Project Elementary School in Boston's Back Bay.
